HIGHLIGHTS

An exciting training tour with Simon Clarke as Road Captain.

We have an easy start in Girona, the new Spanish Cycling Mecca, then ride to the unique mountain Republic of Andorra as final destination. Andorra is the perfect location for cycling, thanks to the high altitude and the several climbs all around. Simon and many other Pros love the combination of great cycling, fantastic food and quietness that only Andorra can offer.

Simon will show us all his favorite climbs and descends, so that you can do exactly what he does during his intense trainman weeks.

The week will involve great riding and recovery, exactly the way all pros do it!

You will ride with experienced guides who, as racers themselves, are happy to share all their knowledge! Massage, bike service, laundry, and coaching are just some of the perks you will get on this tour.

So...are you ready to live like a Pro?

YOUR RIDE

WHO WOULD ENJOY THIS EXPERIENCE?

The experience is built for all riders able to ride for 4-6 hours. This is not a race, but it’s also not an easy riding experience, as the terrain is quite challenging.

The Tour is for intermediate-advanced cyclists keen to challenge themselves and become better cyclists by riding at high altitude on the majestic Pyrenees. If you are preparing for a challenging event such as the Haute Route, Trans Alp, or UCI Granfondo World Championships, this will suit you perfectly!

We will ride as a group on the rolling terrain and as individuals or small groups on the climbs, so that everyone can ride at his/her own pace. On top of each major climb we will regroup to celebrate and refill our bottles, and then enjoy the descent together trying to learn from one another. As a team, we’ll support each other during the ride and make sure everyone finishes safe and happy!

All cyclists interested in great rides and improving their fitness and bike skills will enjoy this incredible experience!

MORE ABOUT THE TERRAIN

We have selected some of the best routes offering a mix of all terrains, but the terrain will be mainly mountainous.

The start from Girona is perfect, as it is at lower altitude.  The route then becomes more challenging on the way to Andorra. That’s why we will work hard when below 1700m and take it very easy on the final km of the big climbs, which are at 2000+ m.

The climbs are long, but the gradient is generally around 6-8%, so not too hard.

There are some exceptions of course, like the col De La Gallina, which is long and steep!

 TOUR ITINERARY

Day One – GIRONA Warm-up Ride

Routes: 45km Total Ascent: 600m

This is a warm-up ride to ease the legs and body into 1-2 weeks of intense riding.  Some of you may have only recently stepped off a plane, so this ride offers a great way to “tease” out that tiredness.  It will include some small climbs and offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Day Two: GIRONA Loop to Calella

Distance: 80 km Elevation: 1900m

Our first day take us to the coast line and back.  On our way to the Mediterranean we will go up and down some nice hills and ride across some picturesque villages.

Day Three - GIRONA Loop to Els Angels

Main Route: 100km Total Ascent: 1700m

The ride to Els Angels is a must when you are in Girona. We will meet hundreds of fellow cyclists on this route up to the beautiful sanctuary!

Day Four - GIRONA to ANDORRA

Distance: 160 km Elevation: 2300m

Today’s ride is designed to allow some recovery before the second part of the training program. We will have the option torrid as long as we like and then jump in the van and transfer to Andorra.Big mountains ahed!

Day Five – ANDORRA loop toPas de La Casa

Main Route: 100km Total Ascent: 1700m

Lovely ride along te valley of Andorra and up to Pas de la Casa at 2400m above sea level. Great views all day long!

Day Six – ANDORRA loop to Col de Ordino

Main Route: 125km; Total Ascent: 3,000m

The climb up to  Col De Ordino is a classic for all the pro riders living in Andorra. It's a long steady climb with some 10% sections. Onto of the climb the view of the Pyrenees is great!

Day Seven - ANDORRA loop to Col de La Gallina

Main Route: 130km; Total Ascent: 3,000m

Possibly the hardest climb in the area, the Col de la Gallina has been featured in the Tour de France and Vuelta Espana several times. We will climb some 15-16 % sections and the climb is long as well...so not an easy day on the menu!

Day Eight – ANDORRA Loop to la SeulD'Urgell (end of 8 days option)

Main Route: 75km; Total Ascent: 1,700m

After the big day, we will have an easy one, or at least short one, as there are no easy days on the Pyrenees! A couple of medium-difficulty climbs on our way to the beautiful town of La Seul in Spain.

Day Nine – ANDORRA loop to Arkalis

Main Route: 115km Total Ascent: 3000m

Arkalis is the highest pass around Andorra and the most beautiful ski resort in the area. We will climb 2 more mountains on  our wayback to Andorra...a big day out!

Day Ten – ANDORRA loop to France (end of 10 days option)

Main Route: 170km Total Ascent: 4,900m

Today we ride a big loop around Andorra entering France first and then Spain. A long ride with 2 major mountains and some long valley roads!

Day Eleven – ANDORRA loop at choice

Main Route: 100km Total Ascent: 2,900m

Todays ride depends on our feelings. We will decide together the distance, the elevation gain and the pace.

Day Twelve – Goodbye
